Split / Gespalten
I was born with a split abdomen, without a bladder and have undergone genital surgery.
There are many people born "imperfect". Those of us who were born with genital malformations or who have had to endure a lot of surgery to become more "normal" looking or even just to be "functioning" (whatever that means) , know very well that beauty can be hard... and painful.
I started talking to other women; women like me, women unlike me. All of them told me that they didn't think themselves to be beautiful "down there". Those who underwent surgery were convinced that no one would ever find them attractive. So I started drawing and painting genitals. As I see them: beautiful. I draw them as they "feel" to be. And I want to show that they are wonderful and individual and each of them a work of art. I want them to be seen. I want them to be appreciated.
That I can continue working on this project relies on those people who are brave enough to send me pictures of their bodies and genitals. I do not disclose any of their identities. I am grateful for their help and touched by their trust.
If you would like to be part of this project in any way, please feel free to contact me! I am constantly looking for models, supporters, idea-sharers, art-lovers... who want to contribute. I am looking forward to "meeting" you! THANK YOU!

our lack of awe, our lack of wonder."
